VISION STATEMENT

Vision Statement Summary

The Philadelphia Freedom School’s vision is to integrate a love for reading with the need for cultural democracy and the strategies of intergenerational community inclusion and family empowerment. Professionals, college students, and high school students prepare exhaustively for the classrooms of children and adults. Reciprocally, those that work within the Philadelphia Freedom Schools are enriched as well by the children and adults that they serve. Students of all ages learn and teach in an intensive strengths-based human environment of love, respect, safety, and excellence.

Philadelphia Freedom Schools

The thematic Philadelphia Freedom school curriculum builds on the lived cultural experiences of the adults and children and exposes them to the larger world as self-conscious change agents. Participants are provided opportunities and are exposed to literature and activities that facilitate deeper knowledge of self, family, community, nation, and world. The process-driven curriculum and operating principles facilitate a sense of ownership in creating a learning, nurturing, and affirming environment where all involved are responsible for the outcomes.
